What Is Health
Our New Health Site
For some time I’ve had an idea for a new health site and this morning I had the sense that – This is a good day to start…
I want for “Us” to define – What Is Health. I’d rather have “Us” doing it than “Me” doing it because I only know what I know right now and that’s not enough. We, on the other hand have thousands of ideas and personal experiences that will add to the overall picture.
A lot of people, when they think of health, think about health in terms of “Health Care” as defined by the health care industry. This big health care business is only a recent phenomena and in the big story of “Life On Earth” is a short paragraph on the last page of a book that isn’t finished.
You and I and all the people on the planet are the authors of this book and we decide how the story goes from here. We are responsible for what gets written next. That’s a big responsibility. The lives of millions of people, millions of children is in our hands.
What Is Health
I guess this is the question we will want to answer, or add answers to. Maybe build on the whole what is health platform. I read something from a doctor’s website the other day and he answered the what is health question like this: Health is metabolic efficiency. Sickness is metabolic inefficiency. ( Dr. Hugh Mann )
I’ve also heard good health described as the free circulation of the body’s energy, or Qi. I say, yes and yes.
So what else is health? Or, what are the symptoms of good health? I can name one without thinking about it too hard: Healthy people feel good. This is what I was thinking about for the “What Is Health” website, to define health for ourselves and come up with our own ways of attaining the healthy state we want.
Good Health Is Accumulative
Good, naturally occurring, health cannot be had overnight or in a few days. Nature, which we are part of, takes it’s time and has a system that works. Nature works as close to perfect as anything we can find.
As an intelligent part of nature wouldn’t we look at something that works really well and say, “Let’s do that”? Or at least be very leery of doing something at odds with nature? When I say this I’m only talking about doing things at odds with natural processes like growing plants or eating.
What we really need to do, to live happy healthy lives, isn’t all that much. Although we can talk about a thousand and one forms – we mostly deal with Plants, Animals and Earth. Is there anything else that’s essential?
In all the things that come our way and seem very important or difficult or stressful we might think – where are the plants and animals here? There’s nothing like a new perspective for changes things.
In the natural world people aren’t – all of a sudden sick – much. There are the things we catch, or pick up: colds, viruses etc. But nobody all of a sudden gets lung cancer. Most bad health is like that. Good health is like that too. We all start some place.
This is what health is to me:
- Knowing what my body needs to function best
- Knowing how to meet these needs naturally
- Knowing about man made poisons and toxins
- Knowing how to best avoid the intake of poisons and toxins
- Finding informed trustworthy people who know about health
- Getting a steady flow of information from these trusted sources
The bottom line for me as to “What Is Health” is feeling as good as I can for as long as I can for as little money as possible.
